Louisiana State looks to keep rolling

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- One game after clinching the Southeastern Conference Western division title, Louisiana State hopes to knock Florida off its path toward the Eastern division crown.

The 24th-ranked Tigers will vie for their ninth straight win when they host the Gators on Tuesday.

LSU (23-4, 11-1 SEC West) is coming off a 79-72 victory over Auburn on Saturday, which gave the Tigers the division title and a bye in the SEC tournament.

Marcus Thornton scored 25 points to lead five Tigers in double figures in the win. Thornton is averaging a team-best 20.5 per contest.

Florida (21-6, 8-4 East) enters the game in a three-way tie with Kentucky (8-4) and South Carolina (8-4) atop the East division with four contests remaining.

The Gators, who have lost three straight road games, are coming off consecutive wins at home, including an 82-68 triumph over Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Freshman Erving Walker scored 17 points off the bench to lead Florida, which shot 61 percent (30-of-49) in the win.

LSU has won the past two meetings.
