Illinois looks to continue Minnesota's road struggles
Feb 26, 2009 - 11:24 AM Minnesota (20-7) at No. 20 Illinois (22-6), 7:00 p.m. ESTCHAMPAIGN, Illinois (Ticker) -- Illinois will be out for revenge when it hosts Minnesota in a Big Ten Conference tilt on Thursday.
The 20th-ranked Fighting Illini (22-6, 10-5 Big Ten) suffered their worst loss of the season at Minnesota on January 29 - a horrendous 59-36 setback.
Illinois did not have a player in double figures as it shot 29 percent (15-of-51).
Recently, the Fighting Illini have turned things around, having won four of their last five, including a 70-68 victory at Ohio State on Sunday. Demetri McCamey is averaging 11.9 points per game to lead Illinois.
Minnesota (20-7, 8-7) comes in losers of four straight road games as it tries to hang on to a possible NCAA Tournament spot.
The Golden Gophers registered their most lopsided win of the season in their last contest, a 72-45 victory at home over Northwestern on Sunday.
Lawrence Westbrook is averaging 12.5 points per game to pace Minnesota.
