Duke vies for fourth straight win

Feb 28, 2009 - 11:06 AM No. 7 Duke (23-5) at Virginia Tech (17-10), 3:30 p.m. EST

BLACKSBURG, Virginia (Ticker) -- Duke appears to be past its brief midseason swoon.

The seventh-ranked Blue Devils go for their fourth straight win when they visit Virginia Tech on Saturday.

After losing four of six games, Duke (23-5, 9-4 ACC) has bounced back with three straight wins, including a 78-67 triumph at Maryland on Wednesday.

One game after netting a career-high 35 points in a win over then-No. 8 Wake Forest, Gerald Henderson scored 19 to lead Duke.

Freshman Elliot Williams added a season-high 15 points in the win for the Blue Devils, who won the first meeting with Virginia Tech, 69-44, on January 4.

The Hokies (17-10, 7-6) snapped a three-game losing streak with an 80-77 victory at No. 13 Clemson on Wednesday.

Malcolm Delaney scored 26 points and A.D. Vassallo had 21 in the win for Virginia Tech, which is hoping to strengthen its case for an NCAA Tournament berth.

The Hokies will get plenty of chances as they close the regular season with games against three of the top teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Virginia Tech also plays North Carolina and Florida State to end the campaign.
