Kansas gunning for revenge vs. title-hungry Missouri
Mar 1, 2009 - 6:27 AM No. 8 Missouri (24-4) at No. 15 Kansas (23-5)LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Kansas is rounding into championship form just in time to earn revenge.
Missouri has other ideas ... like claiming the Big 12 regular-season title.
The 15th-ranked Jayhawks look to remain atop the conference standings and gain retribution in the process when they host the No. 8 Tigers on Sunday.
Despite being the reigning national champion, Kansas has flown largely under the radar this season in a conference that has centered around Oklahoma and its Player-of-the-Year candidate Blake Griffin.
However, the Jayhawks reminded the third-ranked Sooners (25-3, 11-2) who the champs are by forging an 87-78 victory during their meeting on Monday.
The win moved Kansas (23-5, 12-1) to the top spot in the Big 12 for the first time this season.
The Jayhawks would like to stay in first place with a win against Missouri (24-4, 11-2), which handed the national champions their only Big-12 loss during a 62-60 victory on February 9.
The Tigers continued their winning ways on Wednesday, earning their seventh straight victory with a 94-74 romp against Kansas State.
