UConn looking for revenge, Big East crown

Mar 7, 2009 - 11:15 AM No. 1 Connecticut (27-2) at No. 4 Pittsburgh (27-3), 12:00 p.m. EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Less than three weeks after suffering a disappointing loss on its home floor, Connecticut is still in a desirable position.

Top-ranked Connecticut looks to clinch the Big East Conference regular-season crown when it visits No. 4 Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The Huskies (27-2, 15-2 Big East) are tied with Louisville (15-2) for the conference lead, but own the head-to-head tie-breaker with the Cardinals.

UConn has four players averaging over 13 points per game, but all eyes will be on Hasheem Thabeet, who was dominated in his matchup with DeJuan Blair in Connecticut's 76-68 setback on February 16.

Blair had 22 points and 23 rebounds in that contest and may be relied on even more with the possible absence of Levance Fields. The 5-10 senior suffered a back injury in Wednesday's 90-75 triumph over Marquette.

Blair had 23 points and Sam Young added 18 in the win for the Panthers (27-3, 14-3), who are 18-0 at home this season.
