Washington hosts rival looking for Pac-10 crown
Mar 7, 2009 - 11:16 AM Washington State (16-13) at No. 13 Washington (23-7), 5:30 p.m. ESTSEATTLE (Ticker) -- Washington will try and clinch its first outright Pac-10 Conference title when it hosts Washington State on Saturday.
The 13th-ranked Huskies (23-7, 13-4, Pac-10) have not won a conference outright since they claimed the Pacific Coast Conference in 1953 - but can accomplish that feat with a win or a loss by UCLA (12-5).
Washington has won four straight contests, including an 87-60 rout of Seattle University on Tuesday. Jon Brockman had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Washington State (16-13, 8-9) has won three straight contests and will try to play spoiler against its intra-state rivals.
Taylor Rochestie hit the game-winning 3-pointer from well beyond the arc to lift the Cougars to a 51-49 overtime victory over Arizona State last Saturday.
