No. 14 UNC knocks off No. 7 Duke

Mar 2, 2014 - 8:31 PM Chapel Hill, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Diamond DeShields scored 18 points to lead No. 14 North Carolina to a 64-60 victory over seventh-ranked Duke on Sunday to sweep the regular-season Tobacco Road rivalry for the first time since 2007-08.

Allisha Gray and Stephanie Mavunga scored 12 apiece, with Mavunga adding 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (22-8, 10-6 ACC), who capped off their season with wins in five of their last seven.

Tricia Liston had 19 and Elizabeth Williams and Ka'lia Johnson tallied 12 points apiece for the Blue Devils (25-5, 12-4), who lost two of their final three games of the season.

Duke trailed by one with just over four minutes left on the clock after a 3- point play by Johnson, but UNC netted the next seven points to go up 60-52. The Blue Devils scored the last five but it was not enough.

The Blue Devils opened the contest with a 13-3 run in the first four-plus minutes, however the Tar Heels later came back with a 20-5 tear. North Carolina led 28-22 with 4 1/2 minutes to play in the first half and led 36-31 at the break.

The Tar Heels carried their momentum from the first half into the second as they rattled off the first 14 points of the half. Duke fired back with 16 straight to pull within 50-47 with eight minutes left to play.
