Marquette tops Notre Dame, wins third straight

Jan 24, 2007 - 5:14 AM MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Efueko Osagie-Landry scored 15 points as No. 18 Marquette recorded its third straight win with a 71-62 Big East Conference victory over Notre Dame.

Osagie-Landry shot 5-of-6 from the field, handed out five assists and collected four steals as the Golden Eagles held off a late rally by the Fighting Irish.

Christina Quaye and Krystal Ellis both scored 12 points each for Marquette (18-2, 6-1 Big East), which led throughout but saw Notre Dame close within 52-48 with 7 1/2 minutes remaining.

The Golden Eagles responded with an 11-4 run to pull ahead, 63-52, on a three-point play by Osagie-Landry with 3:42 to go.

The Irish got no closer than seven points thereafter.

Charel Allen had 17 points and eight rebounds for Notre Dame (13-6, 4-2), which lost on the road for the third time in its last four games.
