Player sparks Baylor past Missouri

Feb 1, 2007 - 7:30 AM WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Jhasmine Player saved Baylor from a surprising defeat.

Player came off the bench to score 21 points and rally the 11th-ranked Lady Bears to a 71-70 Big 12 Conference victory over Missouri.

Bernice Mosby added 17 points for Baylor (19-3, 6-2 Big 12), which had 12 steals in the game.

Missouri shot 62 percent (18-of-29) in the second half to erase a 34-25 halftime deficit. Alyssa Hollins scored 13 and EeTisha Riddle added 10 in a 28-10 run to start the second half that gave the Tigers a 53-44 lead with 9:53 to play.

Player then converted three straight three-point plays and added a pair of jumpers in a span of 4:17 to bring Baylor within 60-59 with 5 1/2 minutes left.

Mosby and Rachel Allison hit jumpers to put the Bears ahead for good.

Riddle finished with 26 points and Hollins 19 for Missouri (14-7, 2-6), which committed 24 turnovers.
