Louisville women muscle their way past DePaul
Feb 3, 2007 - 9:49 PM LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry had 29 points and 12 rebounds as No. 17 Louisville dominated inside in an 86-68 Big East Conference victory over DePaul.Jazz Covington collected 14 points and 12 boards for Louisville (21-2, 7-2 Big East), which held a 50-14 edge in points in the paint and a 44-37 advantage on the glass in its fourth straight win.
The first half featured four ties and eight lead changes and ended with Louisville holding a 38-37 lead. The Cardinals used their interior strength to pull away in the second half, when they scored 48 points and shot 54.5 percent (18-of-33) from the field.
Reserve center Chauntise Wright added 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting for Louisville. McCoughtry made 11-of-20 shots.
Allie Quigley scored 24 points on 9-of-20 shooting for the Blue Demons (14-9, 4-6), who shot under 30 percent (11-of-37) after halftime and lost their second straight game.
Louisville visits Notre Dame on Thursday.
