Humphrey scores 20 as No. 7 Georgia defeats Florida State in OT

Dec 30, 2007 - 7:34 AM MIAMI (Ticker) -- Tasha Humphrey scored 20 points and added eight rebounds on Saturday as No. 7 Georgia defeated Florida State, 71-62, in overtime to advance to the championship game of the Sun & Fun Classic.

The Lady Bulldogs (11-0) will face host Florida International in Sunday's championship game. The Golden Panthers advanced with a 62-56 victory over Hofstra.

Ashley Houts scored 13 points and had six assists, while Angel Robinson and Megan Darrah each scored 12 points for Georgia. Robinson also had 18 rebounds and four blocked shots.

Georgia trailed, 57-52, but scored the final five points in the closing 1:11 of regulation to force the extra session. The Lady Bulldogs then scored the opening four points of overtime before a jumper by Shante Williams cut the Georgia lead to 61-59 with 3:41 left.

The Lady Bulldogs responded with a 7-0 run to take a nine-point advantage.

Mara Freshour scored 20 points for the Seminoles (9-4) and also had seven rebounds and four assists. Courtney Ward scored 12 points and had six rebounds and six assists for Florida State.
