Pringle turns it on, leads North Carolina past Maryland

Jan 26, 2008 - 11:14 PM CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- LaToya Pringle scored 12 of her career-high 31 points in the second overtime as fourth-ranked North Carolina outlasted No. 3 Maryland, 97-86, in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Saturday.

Erlana Larkins had 25 points and 18 rebounds for the Tar Heels (18-2, 5-0 ACC), who tied the game at 71-71 on Pringle's three-point play with 46 seconds left in regulation.

The teams were still deadlocked at 79-79 after the first overtime, but Pringle took over in the second extra period, scoring six straight points to give North Carolina an 87-82 lead with 1:52 remaining.

Crystal Langhorne led four Terrapins (22-2, 6-1) in double figures with 23 points, while Kristi Toliver had 20 points and 14 assists.

The loss also snapped Maryland's 12-game winning streak and makes North Carolina the lone unbeaten team in conference play.
