Pringle, Larkins power North Carolina

Feb 16, 2008 - 5:35 AM CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- LaToya Pringle had 28 points and 10 rebounds and Erlana Larkins added 21 and 18 to power No. 3 North Carolina to a 90-82 victory over Virginia in Atlantic Coast Conference action on Friday.

Rashanda McCants chipped in 15 points for the Tar Heels (23-2, 10-0 ACC), who outrebounded the Cavaliers, 48-34.

Virginia (18-7, 6-3) scored the game's first seven points and led, 28-17, midway through the first half.

But North Carolina closed within two points at the break and slowly built a 71-64 advantage on a jumper by Larkins with 6 1/2 minutes to play. The Cavaliers cut the deficit to 81-79, but Pringle made a jumper and McCants hit two free throws to push the Tar Heels' lead back up to six with 43 seconds remaining.

Lyndra Littles scored 22 points and Sharnee Zoll added 18 and six assists for Virginia, which shot 39 percent (29-of-74) from the floor.
