Whipple helps Utah edge New Mexico
Feb 24, 2008 - 1:12 AM ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Kalee Whipple scored 21 points and Morgan Warburton added 17 to lead No. 18 Utah to a 57-53 victory over New Mexico in a Mountain West Conference matchup on Saturday.Whipple and Warburton scored eight points apiece during a key run late in the second half for the Utes (23-3, 12-0 MWC), who have won 18 games in a row.
Trailing by 12 with under five minutes to play, Whipple and Warburton keyed an 18-4 run to lead Utah to the victory. The Utes hit five 3-pointers in a row during the spurt.
Dionne Marsh led the way with 21 points for New Mexico, which shot just 36 percent (19-of-52) from the floor, including 6-of-23 from the arc.
