Utah clinches Mountain West with 20th straight win

Mar 3, 2008 - 1:01 AM SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Leilani Mitchell had 19 points and 13 assists as No. 15 Utah defeated No. 25 Wyoming, 67-53, on Sunday to clinch the Mountain West Conference regular-season title.

The victory was the 20th straight for the Utes (25-3, 14-0 MWC).

Kalee Whipple had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six steals for Utah, which was playing its first game against a ranked opponent since moving into the top 25 in early February.

Morgan Warburton scored 12 points and Jessica Perry had 10 for the Utes, who have an all-time 55-8 record against the Cowgirls (23-5, 11-4).

Jodi Bolerjack scored 15 points and Aubrey Vandiver added 12 for Wyoming.

The Cowgirls' only lead of the game came when Rebecca Vanderjagt scored the first points of the game on a layup 1:24 in. Utah outrebounded Wyoming, 39-23, and outscored the Utes in the paint, 26-16.
