Bjorkland sizzles in Tennessee rout of Notre Dame
Jan 5, 2008 - 11:27 PM SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Freshman Angie Bjorkland scored 21 points and Candace Parker added 20 as third-ranked Tennessee recorded an 87-63 victory over No. 14 Notre Dame on Saturday.Nicky Anosike added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Vols (12-1), who have won their last two games by 58 points after absorbing their first loss of the season at then-No. 4 Stanford, 73-69, on December 22.
After posting a 102-68 victory over No. 15 DePaul on Wednesday, Tennessee rolled out to a 41-22 advantage at the half behind 47 percent (15-of-32) shooting.
Left open due to the Fighting Irish's decision to clamp down on Parker, Bjorkland tied a season high with seven 3-pointers made.
Charel Allen scored 17 points and Devereaux Peters added 10 and eight rebounds for Notre Dame (12-2), which surrendered 24 points to Tennessee off of 16 turnovers.
