Elliot helps Kentucky spring upset of Auburn
Jan 20, 2008 - 10:03 PM LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Sarah Elliot scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures as unranked Kentucky posted a 62-55 victory over No. 18 Auburn in a Southeastern Conference contest Sunday.Samantha Mahoney added 12 points and Amber Smith chipped in 11 for the Wildcats (9-9, 3-1 SEC), who took the lead on a pair of free throws by Chelsea Chowning with 1:13 remaining.
Kentucky overcame 21 turnovers and bounced back from Thursday's 65-40 loss to No. 2 Tennessee.
Auburn (13-5, 1-2) which has lost four of five, shot just 34 percent (24-of-69) from the floor.
Sherell Hobbs scored 16 points for the Tigers, who were outrebounded, 44-34.
