Five in double figures as No. 17 Notre Dame tops No. 15 Pitt

Feb 10, 2008 - 11:39 PM SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Tulyah Gaines led five players in double figures on Sunday with 13 points as No. 17 Notre Dame continued its dominance of No. 15 Pittsburgh with an 81-66 Big East victory.

The Fighting Irish (18-5, 6-3 Big East) improved to 17-1 all-time against the Panthers (18-5, 8-2), with the lone loss coming last season at Pittsburgh. The victory was Notre Dame's first against a ranked opponent in five tries this season.

The loss was the first loss in five Big East road games for the Panthers.

Lindsay Schrader scored 12 points and Melissa Lechlitner and Becca Bruszewski each had 10 for Notre Dame.

Devereaux Peters was leading the Irish in scoring with 11 points when she left the game with 13:44 left with an injured left knee.

Marcedes Walker, who missed Pittsburgh's last game with an ankle injury, had 18 points and 14 rebounds. Shavonte Zellous added 16 points and nine boards and Xenia Stewart scored 16 points for the Panthers.
