Late run leads Notre Dame over Syracuse

Feb 17, 2008 - 5:39 AM SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Charel Allen scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as No. 16 Notre Dame posted a 79-67 victory over No. 23 Syracuse in the Big East Conference on Saturday.

Erica Williamson added 14 points, 11 boards and two blocks for the Fighting Irish (20-5, 8-3 Big East), who shot 54 percent (15-of-28) in the second half to pull away from the Orange.

After a three-point play by Syracuse's Chandrea Jones with 3:04 remaining tied the contest at 64-64, Notre Dame went on an 11-0 run. Melissa Lechlitner scored all six of her points during the spurt.

Erica Morrow scored 19 points and Nicole Michael added 14 for the Orange (19-5, 7-4), who shot 36 percent (21-of-58) in losing for the second time in eight games.
