California holds on late to down Oregon

Mar 9, 2008 - 3:48 AM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Natasha Vital had 14 points, nine assists and seven rebounds to power No. 9 California to a 67-60 victory over Oregon in the second round of the Pac-10 tournament on Saturday.

Devanei Hampton and Ashley Walker each added 15 points for the Golden Bears (25-5), who will meet Arizona State (21-9) in one semifinal game on Sunday.

California, which never trailed, jumped out early on Oregon, 16-0. However, the Ducks trimmed the deficit to six points by halftime, forcing the Golden Bears to hit 10-of-12 free throws over the final 1:33 to prevent the upset.

Taylor Lilley had 24 points for Oregon (14-17).
