Parker, Tennessee nab SEC crown

Mar 10, 2008 - 3:22 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Candace Parker scored 28 points to lead No. 3 Tennessee to a 61-55 victory over No. 6 Louisiana State in the Southeastern Conference championship game Sunday.

Parker became the fourth player in school history to surpass 2,000 career points as the Lady Vols (30-2) won their 13th conference title.

Sylvia Fowles had 19 points and 10 rebounds - her 11th consecutive double-double - to pace the Lady Tigers, who held a 54-51 lead with 3:35 to play.

Quianna Chaney added 13 points for LSU, which was appearing in its fourth consecutive SEC final.
