Purdue pulls away late to sink Utah

Mar 24, 2008 - 3:51 AM WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- FahKara Malone and Kalika France scored 17 points apiece to help ninth-seeded Purdue topple No. 8 Utah, 66-59, on Sunday in a first-round game of the NCAA Tournament's Oklahoma City Regional.

Danielle Campbell added 14 points and Natasha Bogdanova had 12 for the Boilermakers (19-14), who advance to play top-seeded Tennessee on Tuesday night.

With the scored tied at 52-52, Malone hit a jumper with 6:43 to play to put Purdue ahead for good.

Bogdanova buried a 3-pointer to cap an 11-3 run that extended the lead to 63-55 with just 1:03 remaining. She hit 4-of-6 shots from the arc.

Morgan Warburton scored 18 points and Kalee Whipple and Leilani Mitchell added 14 apiece for Utah (27-5), which lost despite a 35-27 edge on the boards.
