Westerberg keeps Arizona rolling
Dec 23, 2006 - 5:01 AM TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Emily Westerberg made sure Arizona State continued its roll through the Pac-10 Conference.Westerberg scored 20 points and Danielle Orsillo added 17 as 10th-ranked Arizona State cruised to an 89-62 victory over intrastate rival Arizona in the conference opener for both teams.
The Sun Devils (11-1, 1-0 Pac-10) shot 49 percent (33-of-67) and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds en route to capturing their 10th straight league win, dating back to last season.
Westerberg converted 10-of-12 free throws and Jill Noe chipped in 16 points for Arizona State, which went 18-of-36 (50 percent) from the field in the first half to grab a 45-21 lead at the break.
Amina Njonkou and Joy Hollingsworth scored 14 points apiece for the Wildcats (6-7, 0-1), who lost to their intrastate foe for the third straight time.
