Haynes, Michigan State crush Indiana

Dec 29, 2006 - 5:27 AM EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Rene Haynes scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds as No. 20 Michigan State posted a 74-49 victory over Indiana in the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams.

Allyssa DeHaan scored 10 points, hauled in 10 rebounds and blocked nine shots, surpassing her own single game record by one for the Spartans, who held the Hoosiers to 15 first-half points and 25 percent (18-of-72) shooting for the game.

DeHaan, a 6-9 freshman, also became the school's single-season record holder with 60 blocks, surpassing the mark of 57 by Kristen Rasmussen in 1998-99.

Victoria Lucas-Perry and reserve Alisa Wulff added 10 points apiece for Michigan State (10-2, 1-0 Big Ten), which shot 48 percent (28-of-58) from the field.

Nikki Smith and reserve Kim Roberson scored 12 points for the Hoosiers (11-3, 0-1), who lost for the first time in five games.
