Stanford tops Washington for 11th win in row
Jan 12, 2007 - 6:35 AM SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Jayne Appel and Candice Wiggins kept Stanford rolling.The duo combined for 36 points and 18 rebounds to lead the 10th-ranked Cardinals to their 11th straight win, a 77-56 Pac-10 Conference victory over Washington.
Freshman Appel had 19 points and eight rebounds and Wiggins added 17 and 10 for Stanford (13-3, 6-0 Pac-10), which hasn't lost since November 26 at Georgia.
Brooke Smith scored 12 points as Stanford outscored Washington, 50-22, in the paint. The Cardinal shot 54.5 percent (18-of-33) in forging a 41-28 halftime lead.
The Huskies (12-6, 5-2), who shot 28 percent, were led by Sami Whitcomb with 13 points and Cameo Hicks with 11.
