Middle Tennessee remains perfect in conference play

Jan 13, 2007 - 9:05 PM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Chrissy Givens and Middle Tennessee got plenty of help in remaining perfect in conference play.

Givens scored 17 points and the 21st-ranked Lady Raiders scored 51 points off turnovers in a 78-50 victory over New Orleans in a Sun Belt Conference matchup.

Middle Tennessee (15-3, 7-0 Sun Belt) started the game on a 9-2 run over the first 5 1/2 minutes and led by as many as 47 after a 3-pointer by Jackie Pickel with 12:48 to play made it 68-21.

The Lady Raiders shot 42 percent (29-of-69) and committed 21 turnovers but were aided by 40 turnovers by the Privateers.

Givens added 11 steals and four assists, Amber Holt scored 14 points and Brandi Brown added 12 points for Middle Tennessee, which has won 12 straight following an 88-64 loss at Tennessee on November 26.

Jada Frazier was the only player in double figures for New Orleans (7-12, 1-6) with 17 points.
