Hampton erupts for 25 as Cal cruises past Washington
Jan 14, 2007 - 1:24 AM SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Devanei Hampton scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead 22nd-ranked California to a 72-49 demolition of Washington.Ashley Walker had 12 points and Natasha Vital added seven points and seven assists for the Golden Bears (13-4, 4-3 Pac-10), who shot a sparkling 58 percent (31-of-53) from the floor to complete their first sweep of the Washington schools in team history.
California beat Washington State, 55-48, on Thursday.
Hampton scored 17 points in the first half and Washington shot just 20 percent (6-of-20) as California forged a 35-17. The Golden Bears shot 67 percent (16-of-24) in the second half to secure the victory.
Hampton went 11-of-15 and added four assists for California, which yielded 19 offensive rebounds and committed 23 turnovers.
Cameo Hicks scored 12 points for Washington (12-7, 5-3), which shot 26 percent (16-of-61) for the game and committed 20 turnovers.
