Michigan State towers over Iowa
Jan 15, 2007 - 2:51 AM IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) -- Michigan State's inside strength was too much for Iowa to overcome.Freshman Allyssa DeHaan scored 20 points to lead the 20th-ranked Spartans to an 83-63 Big Ten Conference victory over the Hawkeyes.
Michigan State (13-4, 4-1 Big Ten) outscored Iowa, 36-10, in the paint, led by the 6-9 DeHaan and the 6-3 Myisha Bannister, who scored 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting and added seven rebounds and four blocks. DeHaan had three rejections.
Victoria Lucas-Perry scored 16 points and Aisha Jefferson added 13 for the Spartans, who shot 54 percent (30-of-56) from the field.
Wendy Ausdemore led four players for Iowa (11-8, 3-3) in double figures with 12 points. The Hawkeyes committed 20 turnovers which Michigan State turned into 30 points.
