Latta, UNC pound Boston College; prep for No. 1 Duke
Feb 2, 2007 - 6:12 AM CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Ivory Latta and North Carolina had a strong tune-up as they prepare for No. 1 Duke.Latta scored 20 points and collected five steals as the second-ranked Tar Heels remained undefeated with an 82-60 victory over Boston College in an Atlantic Coast Conference contest.
Showing no letdown after an 84-71 win over then-No. 3 Maryland on Sunday, North Carolina (24-0, 8-0 ACC) rolled out to a 43-26 lead at the half. It added to the lead by shooting 61 percent (14-of-23) from the floor after intermission.
The Tar Heels now have a week off before hosting top-ranked Duke next Thursday.
Latta finished 7-of-14 from the field with four 3-pointers and handed out five assists. Camille Little and LaToya Pringle had 15 points and nine rebounds each for UNC, which finished with a 19-7 advantage in points off turnovers.
Kathrin Ross scored 15 points for the Eagles (11-11, 1-7), who committed 20 turnovers in dropping their third straight game.
