Rutgers women trounce Cincinnati
Feb 3, 2007 - 11:01 PM PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Essence Carson scored 18 points to lead all five starters in double figures as No. 25 Rutgers dominated Big East Conference foe Cincinnati, 85-43, for its fourth straight win.Kia Vaughn totaled 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for the Lady Knights (14-6, 7-2 Big East), who have won nine of their last 10 games.
Rutgers converted 19 turnovers by Cincinnati into 35 points and shot a blistering 63.5 percent (33-of-52) from the field, including 9-of-17 3-pointers.
The Lady Knights limited Cincinnati (12-10, 3-7) to 37 percent (17-of-46) shooting, including just 3-of-17 from the arc. Epiphanny Prince anchored the defense with four steals, adding 16 points.
Emy Ogide was the only Lady Bearcat to shoot better than 50 percent from the field, scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting. The loss was Cincinnati's third straight, all to ranked Big East opponents.
Rutgers puts its winning streak on the line Tuesday at No. 5 Connecticut.
