DeHaan, Michigan State upend Ohio State

Feb 18, 2007 - 8:55 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Freshman Allyssa DeHaan helped Michigan State find a way to solve Jessica Davenport and Ohio State.

DeHaan had 25 points, eight rebounds and five blocks as the 24th-ranked Spartans snapped the No. 4 Buckeyes' 17-game winning streak with a 62-59 Big Ten Conference victory.

A 6-9 freshman, DeHaan outplayed the 6-5 Davenport, the two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, who managed 16 points and 11 rebounds despite being in foul trouble throughout.

Michigan State (21-6, 12-2 Big Ten) handed Ohio State (24-2, 13-1) its first conference loss and ended a couple of long streaks by the Buckeyes - 30 consecutive wins against league opponents and 26 victories in a row on their home floor.

Aisha Jefferson added 12 points and Rene Haynes 10 for the Spartans, who had a 38-30 edge on the glass.

Andrea Walker was the only other player in double figures with 10 points for the Buckeyes, who were an abysmal 2-of-19 from 3-point range.
