Latta sparks North Carolina rout of Miami

Feb 18, 2007 - 10:27 PM CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Ivory Latta and North Carolina bounced back in a big way.

Latta scored 21 points to lead the second-ranked Tar Heels to a 93-70 romp over Miami in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

North Carolina (26-2, 10-2 ACC) was coming off a 72-65 loss to rival North Carolina State on Friday, a game in which Latta had 10 points on 5-of-21 shooting.

Erlana Larkins and Camille Little added 12 points apiece for the Tar Heels, who scored over 90 points for the 13th game this season but the first time since January 11 against Clemson. Larkins also had 13 rebounds as North Carolina dominated the boards, 47-33.

Latta finished 7-of-12 from the floor and hit 5-of-9 3-pointers as the Tar Heels rolled to a 52-24 lead at halftime.

Maurita Reid had 28 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals for Miami (11-17, 2-11), which committed 22 turnovers.
