Parker helps Tennessee snap LSU's long home streak

Feb 20, 2007 - 5:13 AM BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Candace Parker took control of the Maravich Center.

Parker had 27 points and 13 rebounds and Shannon Bobbitt added 13 points as No. 3 Tennessee snapped seventh-ranked LSU's 21-game home conference winning streak with a 56-51 triumph in a Southeastern Conference battle.

Parker, who shot 11-of-20 from the floor but missed 7-of-12 free throws, outscored Lady Tigers star Sylvia Fowles, who had 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Tennessee, which led, 30-22, at the half, shot just 31 percent (21-of-67), but gathered 20 offensive rebounds, including seven from Sidney Spencer, for a 13-3 edge in second-chance points.

Bobbitt sank 3-of-7 from behind the arc as the Lady Vols (25-2, 12-0 SEC) remained perfect in league games.

LSU (23-5, 9-3) tied the game twice in the second half and a 3-point attempt by Quianna Chaney in the finals seconds that would have tied the game, bounced out.
