Westerberg, Johnson lifts ASU over Arizona
Feb 25, 2007 - 12:52 AM TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Emily Westerberg and Aubree Johnson each scored 16 points to lead eight-seeded Arizona State to a 59-54 Pac-10 Conference victory over intrastate Arizona.The Sun Devils (26-3, 16-2 Pac-10) recorded a school record for most victories in a single season, surpassing the previous mark set in 1982.
Arizona State, which shot 47.7 percent (21-of-44) from the floor, led 23-22 at the half. It shot just 25 percent (2-of-8) from 3-point range.
Joy Hollingsworth scored 24 points to lead the Wildcats (10-20, 4-14), who shot 44 percent (22-of-50) from the field but committed 24 turnovers.
