No. 11 OU sets 3-point mark, routs No. 20 Pokes

NORMAN, Okla.(AP) -- Amanda Thompson's shots were falling like never before, her mother was there to see it, then all her teammates got in on the action.

Her last time playing at the Lloyd Noble Center in the regular season was like a dream - or maybe even better. Thompson scored a career-high 29 points and helped lead No. 11 Oklahoma's record-setting 3-point avalanche in a 95-62 rout of No. 20 Oklahoma State on Sunday.

"It couldn't get any better than what happened today," Thompson said. "It's just everything I imagined about a senior night."

Thompson and Jasmine Hartman each made four 3-pointers for the first time in their careers as Oklahoma (21-9, 11-5 Big 12) broke the school record with 16 on 27 attempts.

Thompson had three of Oklahoma's eight 3-pointers during a 29-8 surge that broke open the game. A career 27 percent outside shooter who had missed 12 of her 14 attempts over the past six games, Thompson went 4 for 4 to lead the Sooners in their 22nd win in 23 Bedlam games.

"They didn't really rotate and I just took advantage of the situation," Thompson said. "I knew that I was kind of hot, so I was like, 'OK, I'm going to keep shooting these, keep shooting these until they try to stop it.' That's just how it was the whole game."

Andrea Riley, the nation's third-leading scorer, led Oklahoma State (21-9, 9-7) with 25 points in its 12th straight loss in Norman. Oklahoma claimed the third seed and a first-round bye at next week's Big 12 tournament while the Cowgirls will be the seventh seed.

Coming off a 23-point loss at Texas A&M that was their first game this season without a 3, the Sooners put on a show in front of former national player of the year Courtney Paris.

Oklahoma made 15 of its first 20 shots, including eight of 11 from 3, claiming a 42-20 lead after Danielle Robinson went coast-to-coast for a layup and turned it into a three-point play.

Carlee Roethlisberger got into the 3-point spirit to put Oklahoma up 24 before the Cowgirls scored the final five points of the first half. Joanna McFarland also hit her first career 3 and reserve Lauren Willis hit two late, including the record-breaker with 1:53 left.

"You've got to challenge Oklahoma's non-shooters to make shots and I look down the list, and they all made shots tonight," Cowgirls coach Kurt Budke said. "It's a disappointing way to end Big 12 season, no question about that, but it's not the end of the season."

Oklahoma State, meanwhile, went 5 of 19 from 3-point range.

"It's just some nights it's a magical night," Riley said. "I would be happy if we were 9 for 13 in the first half from 3, too. It gives you a lot of confidence."

Thompson and Hartman each had 3s as the Sooners stayed hot in the second half, and Hartman added bookend 3-pointers in a 12-2 run that made it 71-36 with 14:30 remaining. Hartman, who had made only four 3s all season, went 4 for 6 and finished with a career-high 14 points.

"It's senior night, I want to make a difference and they just left me open," said Hartman, who made her seventh straight start. "I was like, 'I can shoot, too."'

Nyeshia Stevenson added three 3-pointers and 15 points, Robinson had 13 points and nine assists and senior Abi Olajuwon had 10 rebounds for the Sooners. Their previous record for 3-pointers had been 14 in games against Iowa State in 1996 and Colorado in 2001.

"I just felt like it was unbelievable and it couldn't get any better," Thompson said.

Thompson, Stevenson and Olajuwon addressed the crowd in an emotional postgame ceremony for the seniors, who will likely play again at the Lloyd Noble Center in the NCAA tournament.

"It's just a celebration," Stevenson said. "It's not over. We could easily end up playing here again if they pick us to."

Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale joked she might try to duplicate senior night, if that's what resulted in her team's dominant play.

"It's just a feeling, a way of being that sometimes that's what separates you," Coale said. "You get on the right wave at the right time and extraordinary things can happen."

Riley surpassed Liz Brown's school season assists record and Precious Robinson added 12 points off the bench for Oklahoma State, which got only five points on 2-for-12 shooting from second-leading scorer Tegan Cunningham.

Cunningham was also called for an intentional foul after she clocked Roethlisberger in front of the Sooners' bench in the first half. Officials originally called a personal foul before reviewing a courtside monitor and making it intentional.

"I know Tegan as a person. Whatever happened, she's sorry about," Budke said. "She's a great kid and she really hurts when she's letting down the team and not playing as she's capable of. That really bothers her because she's a tremendous young lady."
