IUPUI hires Parkinson to replace Hart

Sep 29, 2010 - 10:36 PM INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- IUPUI has hired Austin Parkinson as its women's basketball coach.

He replaces Shann Hart, who was fired last week amid accusations of NCAA rules violations.

Parkinson has served the past two years as an assistant coach on the IUPUI men's basketball team. The 29-year-old Parkinson, a former player at Purdue, becomes the ninth head coach in the program's 35-year history.

Hart's teams went 74-105 in six years at IUPUI.
