Lamar gives Tidwell extension
Nov 17, 2011 - 5:11 PM Beaumont, TX (Sports Network) - Lamar has signed head women's basketball coach Larry Tidwell to a contract extension through the 2013-14 season.Tidwell, who is in his fifth season at Lamar, has the Lady Cardinals off to a 2-1 start this year. Lamar is coming off Tuesday's 67-58 victory over Ole Miss, the school's first victory over an SEC opponent since 1995.
"This is something that shows the stability we have developed in this program," Tidwell said. "I'm very appreciative of the loyalty Lamar University has shown to my coaches and me."
Tidwell is 92-41 as head coach of the Lady Cardinals, leading them to the Southland Conference title and a bid in the NCAA Tournament in 2010.
His 92 career wins are second on Lamar's all-time list, behind the 109 victories posted by Pat Park.
