Hassell helps No. 9 Georgia hold off Auburn
Feb 8, 2013 - 2:37 AM Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Jasmine Hassell posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds on Thursday, as No. 9 Georgia held off Auburn, 61-58, at Stegeman Coliseum.Shacobia Barbee donated 14 points and eight boards, while Jasmine James and Khaalidah Miller added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Lady Bulldogs (20-3, 8-2 SEC), who have won four straight.
Hasina Muhammed poured in a game-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds, while Blanche Alverson totaled 16 points, seven boards and five assists for the Tigers (13-10, 2-8), who have dropped their last seven games.
Georgia led, 34-22, at the break before Auburn opened the second half on a 19-8 surge to pull within 42-41 with 10:34 left.
The Tigers tied the game on two different occasions down the stretch, but the Lady Bulldogs knocked down just enough free throws to hang on for the victory.
