No. 8 Lady Lions best Buckeyes in Big Ten quarters
Mar 9, 2013 - 5:07 AM Hoffman Estates, IL (Sports Network) - Alex Bentley poured in 20 points to lead No. 8 Penn State to a 76-66 victory over Ohio State in a quarterfinal matchup in the Big Ten Tournament on Friday.Maggie Lucas followed with 18 points and Nikki Greene added 17 points for the Lady Lions (25-4), who will take on Michigan State in a semifinal on Saturday.
Tayler Hill netted a game-high 23 points to pace the Buckeyes (18-13), while Amber Stokes scored 18 in the setback.
Ohio State led by as many as five in the first half, but with the game tied, 39-39, early in the second half, the Lady Lions ripped off a 14-2 run to build a 53-41 cushion with under 12 1/2 minutes to play.
Penn State pushed the margin to 18 with 5 1/2 minutes remaining and was able to hang on down the stretch.
