Mar 24, 2013 - 1:09 AM Lubbock, TX (Sports Network) - Brittany Boyd came up one assist shy of a triple-double as she helped guide the California Golden Bears to a 90-76 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at United Spirit Arena.Boyd finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the second-seeded Bears (29-3), one of five players to score in double figures for the squad. Gennifer Brandon logged a double-double of her own with 17 points and 12 boards, while Layshia Clarendon dropped in 19 points for a squad that will now take on South Florida in the next round after the Bulls slipped by Texas Tech, 71-70.

Shooting 8-of-16 behind the 3-point line in the first half, the Bulldogs managed to post a four-point edge in the period, but that didn't last long as California knocked down 56.8 percent from the floor overall in the frame in order to take a 48-41 lead at the break.
In the second half FSU fell off the pace in a big way, converting a total of just 10 field goals, en route to the double-digit setback.
In addition to limiting the Bulldogs to only 38.2 percent shooting from the floor on the day, the Bears also held a massive 51-28 advantage on the glass and outscored FSU in the paint by a 56-26 margin.
