Dayton's Jabir rewarded with extension

Apr 17, 2013 - 5:20 PM Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - Dayton head women's basketball coach Jim Jabir has signed a contract extension through the 2019-20 season.

Jabir led the Flyers to a Division I school-record 28 wins and the program's first regular season Atlantic 10 championship. Dayton earned its four consecutive trip to the women's NCAA Tournament with its highest seed in team history at No. 7, but lost to Kentucky in the second round.

"The University of Dayton is committed to winning championships, competing in postseason play and graduating our student-athletes. This contract extension demonstrates our commitment to Jim Jabir and our women's basketball program," athletic director Tim Wabler said in a statement Wednesday. "The University of Dayton women's basketball program is outstanding on many levels. His teams have compiled a very impressive list of accomplishments. Also, the women's basketball team has been embraced by the community, not only for its performance on the court, but also for their commitment to character, academic excellence and community service."

Jabir, who took over the program in 2003, is a two-time A-10 Coach of the Year.
