No. 4 Notre Dame rallies to beat Tennessee

Jan 21, 2014 - 2:27 AM Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Kayla McBride scored 22 points and No. 2 Notre Dame remained unbeaten with an 86-70 victory over No. 11 Tennessee on Monday.

Natalie Achonwa and Michaela Mabrey chipped in 15 points apiece for the Irish (17-0), who took a brief break from their ACC schedule to play their final non-conference game of the season.

They trailed by as many as 12 points with 5 1/2 minutes to play in the first half but held Tennessee to just 25 percent shooting in the second half and led by as many as 17.

The Irish were 10-of-20 on 3-pointers in the game. McBride, Mabrey and Madison Cable, who had 12 points, each made three 3s.

Meighan Simmons had 23 points to lead the Lady Volunteers (14-4), who have lost two of their last three.
