GW coach Tsipis gets extension

May 6, 2014 - 10:28 PM Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - George Washington head women's basketball coach Jonathan Tsipis has earned a contract extension through the 2020-21 season.

This past season, he guided GW to a 23-11 record and into the third round of the WNIT. It was a nine-win improvement from the 2012-13 season and also marked the program's first postseason wins since 2008.

"We brought Jonathan here to restore the tradition of excellence of GW women's basketball, and in just two seasons at the helm of our program he has done exactly that," said athletics director Patrick Nero. "Jonathan has brought outstanding student-athletes to George Washington who are like-minded in their approach to academics, athletics and representing the community. We're excited to continue on that path under his leadership in our women's basketball program."
