Pittsburgh pulls away from Charlotte in second half
Nov 10, 2007 - 1:51 AM UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Center Marcedes Walker scored 16 points and Pittsburgh pulled away in the second half for an 85-68 victory over Charlotte on Friday in the first game of the WBCA Classic.It was the season opener for both teams.
Xenia Stewart and Shavonte Zellous added 16 points apiece for the Panthers, who broke away from a 34-33 halftime advantage by shooting 58 percent (18-of-31) in the second half.
Jania Sims also was in double figures with 12 points for the Panthers (1-0), who shot 6-of-13 from 3-point range.
Sabrina Gregory scored 18 points and Danielle Burgin added 12 and 12 rebounds for Charlotte (0-1), which finished just 1-of-7 from the arc and hurt itself with 62 percent shooting (21-of-31) at the free-throw line.
