Florida State rolls to 40-point victory in opener
Nov 10, 2007 - 3:06 AM FORT MYERS, Florida (Ticker) -- Jacinta Monroe scored a game-high 23 points Friday as No. 19 Florida State rolled to a 93-53 victory over Florida Gulf Coast.Tanae Davis-Cain added 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Seminoles (1-0), who were playing their first opener away from home since the 2001-02 season. It was Florida State's 14th consecutive victory in season openers.
Antionette Howard had 17 points and Britany Miller added 11 for Florida State, which led, 46-24, at halftime.
Delia De La Torre led the Eagles (0-1) with 14 points. It was the first Division I game for Florida Gulf Coast, which finished 34-1 last season and reached the NCAA Division II national championship game.
