Big early lead carries Notre Dame to easy win
Nov 14, 2007 - 3:06 AM SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Ashley Barlow scored 18 points and Charel Allen had 16 to lead No. 25 Notre Dame to a 78-59 victory over Western Kentucky on Tuesday in the second round of the WNIT.Melissa Lechlitner added 12 points off the bench for the Fighting Irish (2-0), who shot 51 percent (19-of-37) in the first half to open a 50-23 lead at the break.
Notre Dame moves on to face No. 3 Maryland on Friday. The Terrapins beat Delaware, 91-43, on Tuesday.
Kenzie Rich scored 15 points and Whitney Ballinger 14 for Western Kentucky (1-1), which shot just 38 percent (21-of-55) and committed 26 turnovers that led to 24 points for Notre Dame.
