Fields leads No. 19 UCLA women past UC Irvine, 83-48
Dec 17, 2015 - 5:26 AM LOS ANGELES (AP) Nirra Fields scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and No. 19 UCLA cruised past UC Irvine, 83-48 Wednesday night in the Bruins' final nonconference home game this season.The game was the first meeting between the schools since 2006 and first at Pauley Pavilion since 2005. UCLA has a 12-game win streak against unranked opponents.
UCLA (5-2) got off to a fast start, taking a 26-14 lead after one quarter and pushing it to 47-25 by intermission.
Jordin Canada scored 17 points and dished off three assists for the Bruins, her 12th straight game in double-figure scoring and 36th straight game with at least one assist.
The UCLA defense held UC Irvine to just 28.1 percent shooting from the field (18 of 64), including 6 of 21 from beyond the arc. The Anteaters were outrebounded 59-30.
Shereen Sutherland, Jenny Dee and Tierra Hicks each scored nine points to lead UC Irvine (3-6).
