Second-half surge lifts Maryland past LSU
Nov 18, 2007 - 10:07 PM COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Kristi Toliver scored 23 points as No. 3 Maryland used a second-half surge to defeat No. 4 Louisiana State, 75-62, in the preseason WNIT finals on Sunday.Trailing by two points early in the second half, Maryland used a 16-1 run to take a 54-41 advantage with 12:23 left in the game.
Laura Harper scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half for the Terrapins (5-0), who led by double digits for the final eight minutes of the game.
Sylvia Fowles had 24 points and 13 rebounds and Quianna Chaney added 23 for LSU (3-1), which shot 34 percent (25-of-74) from the field.
Fowles and Chaney combined for 26 points in the first half as the Tigers trailed, 34-32, at the break.
