Memphis women top No. 15 South Florida 88-87 in OT

Jan 21, 2016 - 3:49 AM MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Ariel Hearn scored a career-high 33 points, including two free throws with three seconds left, and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Memphis beat No. 15 South Florida 88-87 in overtime on Wednesday night.

Shalethia Stringfield tied the game at 79-all with 3:17 left in overtime, but USF did not make its next field goal until Courtney Williams's 3-pointer cut its deficit to 86-84 with 3.9 seconds left.

Hearn hit two free throws for a two-possession game and Stringfield made a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Asianna Fuqua-Bey had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for Memphis (10-9, 4-4 American) before fouling out with 3:53 left in OT. Hearn hit four of Memphis' five 3-pointers and is now one of three Tigers in program history with 200 or more makes from 3-point range.

Williams had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for USF (12-5, 5-2), which has its highest AP ranking ever.

Williams made 1 of 2 free throws with nine seconds left in regulation for a 75-73 lead, but Brianna Wright answered to force overtime.
