Sacramento State sets women's record for made 3-pointers
Jan 23, 2016 - 11:40 PM PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Brianna Burgos scored 32 points, a career high, and Sacramento State broke an NCAA women's record for 3-pointers made in a game, hitting 25 of 55 attempts, in a 126-78 rout of Portland State on Saturday.Earlier this season the Hornets set the NCAA record for attempts with 80 - 20 made - in a 117-99 loss to California. The previous record for makes was 22 on 43 attempts by Florida Gulf Coast on Jan. 12, 2013.
The team's 48-point margin of victory ties a program record against a Division I school, matching its 126-78 over UC Irvine on Dec. 22. The Hornets (6-10, 3-2 Big Sky) also broke the team's record for assists in a game with 35, set previously this season. The Hornets, who lead the NCAA in steals per game (15.2), added to that total with 21 more.
Burgos was 12 of 23 from the floor and 6 of 15 beyond the arc. It's her 11th game this season she's hit at least three 3-pointers. Justyce Dawson and Abbey Goodsell scored 14 points apiece, while Gretchen Harrigan and Raegen Rohn both added 12.
Portland State (2-14, 0-5) was led by Cici West with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
